As part of our mission to make the lives of the disabled community of Aberdeen a bit easier we’ll often suggest folk get in touch with other groups who might be able to offer specialist knowledge, support or activities.
This is a very short list of just a few of the fantastic groups offering services to people in Aberdeen. Follow the links to find out more about each group.
- Shop Mobility: Help with mobility equipment, including mobility scooters, powered and manual wheelchairs and, walking aids.
- Motability: Helping people use their mobility allowance to lease suitable cars, scooters or powered wheelchairs.
- North East Sensory Services: Specialist services and support for those with serious sight or hearing loss.
- Disability Equality Scotland: A membership group who work alongside many groups all over Scotland to help influence Scottish Government policy with the aim of removing barriers and promoting equality.
- The Aberdeen Law Project: Offer an extensive range of outreach programmes across Scotland with an eye towards enabling the community with the skills and knowledge to identify, avoid or address legal issues before a dispute can occur. They also offer a research clinic which aids local charities and groups with any legal research they may require.
- Aberdeen Airport Guide : Disabled Facilities: A great resource for anyone travelling to or from Aberdeen Airport. The site also contains links to information about disability friendly facilities in other airports around the country.
- Accessible Accommodation: A fantastic blog, written by a local guy, which reviews just how accessible hotels are and is packed with hand travel advice. This is an incredibly valuable resource for the disabled traveller.
- Stair lift Review’s 100 Best Disability Blogs: A huge list of who’s who in the world of disability blogging. There are sites linked from here that cover all kinds of disability issues.
- Addiction Campuses Disability Treatment Guide: Specialist information relating to the treatment of addiction and disability.
- Diabetes in Scotland: A huge collection of information on living with and managing diabetes.
