About Us

DSCF0021

Here at Aberdeen Action on Disability, we sum up our mission with three simple words: Information, Awareness and Representation.

We are members of various local and national bodies and have contributed to various research projects. We’ll help you write to your MP or MSP. We try to represent our members interests whenever we speak on their behalf. We will also supply advocacy at benefits appeals, or simply call the council on your behalf if that’s what you want us to do. This is what we mean by representation.

To raise awareness, we try to highlight the problems that people with physical and sensory disabilities face. We have run awareness clinics at Aberdeen College and schools. We raise questions, interview campaigners and policy makers and cover disability news on our Facebook page and Blog. We also try to raise awareness of services that you might find helpful.

As for information, all you have to do is give us a call, Facebook message, drop us an email or pop in and see us in person and we’ll do our best to get an answer for any questions you may have. Even if we don’t know it ourselves, we can point you in the direction of someone who does.

We also do our best to pass on relevant information via our blog and Facebook page.

We can help you with all kinds of benefits forms, appeals and advocacy, or we can just provide a social outlet and a cup of tea- it’s up to you.
